Cahors to Lectoure in France
September 26th – October 3rd 2024
I am rather excited to be bringing this route to you again as it is the first one I led on when I started the Camino Experiences.
This is a section of the Via Podiensis which feeds into the Camino Frances in St Jean Pied de Port in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is one of the four routes through France on the pilgrimage to the tomb of St. James in Santiago.
The route is much quieter than the routes in Spain, less commercialised and the food tends to be excellent.
On this section, we’ll begin our journey in the beautiful town of Cahors, south of Toulouse. The walk begins at its historic UNESCO heritage bridge, Post Valentre, a perfect place to start a transformational experience. Then over 6 days we’ll enjoy wonderful scenery as we cover around 75 miles ending in the pretty town of Lectoure.
The length of our walking days varies depending on where our accommodation is so the shortest day is 15km/9.37 miles and the longest 25km/ 16.62 miles. The terrain is also variable and it all makes for a really interesting journey along a multitude of surfaces, some flat and also hilly as we get to visit the hilltop towns. This walk is all inland though we have time along the Canal du Midi and the River Lot.
You’ll experience all aspects of this wonderful walk, the scenery, history, the food and wine as we walk through beautiful towns and villages. We visit picturesque churches including the Abbey at Moisac which is stunning and hopefully have time to visit it’s UNESCO heritage cloisters. We walk a flat section along the Canal du Midi and visit a number of hilltop towns, whose positions can best be appreciated once you have recovered from the steep climb, in the local cafe.
As we walk there is time for discussion, mindfulness, silence and deep thought as well as laughter, light conversation and plenty of fun.
Everything except your travel, coffees and light lunches and personal alcohol consumption is included and there is a post walk wine, beer or soft drink included every walking day. We enjoy that drink as we bring the walk to a close with a celebratory toast and then talk about how it was and what we might have experienced or learnt.

The earlybird price is £2495 and will end on May 31st 2024. Once that date passes the cost rises to £2695.
Payment plans are available, with some people choosing to pay up front, and others spreading payments out over as many months as they can. We will work with what suits you as long as final payment is made before you leave on your Experience.
We want to make this as doable for you as possible.
Once you commit, we take a £300 non-refundable deposit which secures your place and your price and then we follow up with a payment discussion.
